Dando continuação à colaboração entre as Ômega talks, da UFPR, e a RBras,
temos o prazer de anunciar a palestra da Vera Tomazella, *hoje, dia 26 de
outubro de 2022, às 19h00*, com o título "Recent Advances in Survival
Analysis Modeling Applied to Health: Defective  models for modeling
lifetime data" e resumo e biografia abaixo.

*Resumo*: Modeling of a cure fraction, also known as long-term modeling, is
a part of survival analysis. It studies cases where supposedly there are
observations not susceptible to the event of interest. Such cases require
special theoretical treatment, in a way that the modeling assumes the
existence of such observations. A way to model cure rates is to use
defective distributions. These distributions are characterized by having
probability density functions that integrate to values less than one when
the domain of some of their parameters is different from that usually
defined. The literature provides some distributions with the defective
property. In this talk, we will show some ways to explore the distributions
that can be used to model survival data with the presence of a cured rate.

*Breve biografia*: Professora Titular junto a Universidade Federal de São
Carlos-UFSCar, Bolsista de Produtividade em Pesquisa do CNPq – Nível 2.
Possui graduação em Licenciatura em Matemática pela Universidade Federal do
Maranhão, Especialização pela UNICAMP, mestre em Ciências da Computação e
Matemática Computacional pelo ICMC-USP-São Paulo-São Carlos, Doutora em
Ciências da Computação e Matemática Computacional pelo ICMC-USP-São
Paulo-São Carlos, Pós-Doutorado pela Universidade de Valéncia-Espanha e
Pós-Doutorado pela Universidade de Manchester-UK (2016). Atua
principalmente nas áreas de Análise de Sobrevivência e Confiabilidade e
Modelagem de Risco. Foi vice e coordenadora do Programa Interinstitucional
de Pós-Graduação em Estatística (PIPGEs) da UFSCar-USP. Membro eleita do
International Statistical Institute (ISI) e Foi Presidente da ABE.
