Temos o prazer de informar que o Ômega Talks da RBras/UFPR, e o grupo de
Jovens Pesquisadores da RBRas (JP) estão de volta para o ano de 2024, e
convidam vocês para a palestra do Prof. Dr. Flávio Bambirra Gonçalves, que
falará um pouco sobre modelagem bayesiana flexível através de misturas com
aplicações em regressão linear e teoria de resposta ao item.

linear regression and item response theory

Resumo:
This talk discusses the statistical applications of mixtures of
distributions. The general formulation of mixture models is discussed in
the contexts of non-parametric modeling and model selection and averaging
under the Bayesian approach. Some important probabilistic and statistical
properties of mixtures are presented.  Finally, some examples of
statistical models with mixtures are presented in the contexts of linear
regression and item response theory models.

Biografia:
Flávio Gonçalves is an Associate Professor at Universidade Federal de Minas
Gerais. He has a PhD in Statistics from the University of Warwick. His main
research interests include SDE models, point processes, geostatistics,
computational Statistics and Monte Carlo methods, mathematical Statistics
and Bayesian Statistics.
