<div class="m_6102069431688375865e2ma-p-div" style="display:block;margin-bottom:10px;font-size:12px;font-weight:normal;line-height:1.5;font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#333;font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:13px;color:#333"><span style="line-height:1.5"><span style="font-size:15px">An International Biometric Conference short course is usually taught by one or more instructors on a topic that is likely to be of interest to many potential IBC participants. Short courses may be on an introductory level or may address more advanced and specialized topics. Participants are often drawn to courses that have a strong computational component, for example, learning about methods for which there is a good R package available. Our goal is to provide courses that will attract a diverse set of registrants, especially students and early career researchers, and represent a range of different application areas. We also want to reach out to potential participants from economically developing countries. </span><span style="font-size:15px">Course selection will be by committee consensus and will consider how the courses complement and enhance the scientific program of the conference as well as the likelihood they will attract a good number of registrants. </span></span></div>

A course can either last the full day (six - eight hours) or a half day (four hours). Short course presenters will receive a small honorarium as a thank you for their efforts. </span></span></div>
