Dear colleague,<br>

I am writing on behalf of a group of scientists from around the world<br>
who have grown increasingly disturbed about the worsening humanitarian<br>
situation in Gaza. We decided we had to do something, no matter how small.<br>
<br>
We have formulated a letter as scientists transcending borders, who<br>
would like to see an immediate end to this terrible situation. We<br>
therefore address our appeal not only to the Israeli government and<br>
Hamas but also all other governments and international bodies. The<br>
letter expresses our deep distress at the humanitarian situation in<br>
Gaza. It calls on governments and others to exert all available means to<br>
halt this tragedy. If you are a scientist* please consider reading and<br>
signing our petition, and forwarding this email to several other<br>
scientists of your acquaintance. However, we feel that at this stage it<br>
would be best not to post the petition on social media (or publish it<br>
elsewhere), as it could invite (perhaps deliberately targeted) false<br>
signatures.<br>
