The Department, which currently has 88 permanent members of staff, has recently grown, and will continue to grow, significantly. In early 2021, we will move to a newly constructed building, to be shared with Computer Science, with the goal of fostering constructive interdisciplinary exchanges.

Attracting some of the best students in the country (5th best average UCAS entry tariff), the Department was ranked 4th in the Complete University Guide 2020. As part of the expansion of the Department, a new degree in Mathematics and Statistics, as well as a new Master of Data Science, have just been launched, with further specialized MSc programmes to commence in 2021 and subsequent years. These degrees will allow research-led teaching in areas at the forefront of modern statistical practice.
