"Bayesian latent class model with functional covariates"

Abstract
Mixture models are popular statistical tools for classification purposes in
a broad range of applied fields. In this study we focus on the modeling of
the probability latent-class membership as a function of functional
covariates, assuming a nonparametric relationship of the functional
variables with the link function of the mixture probability. Using an
expansion into B-spline basis functions, we not only  allow more flexible
models but also reduce the dimensionality of the problem. Classical MCMC
sampling and variational Bayes methods are carried out to perform Bayesian
inference.
