The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning and the
Union of Students in Ireland are delighted to advise you that you have been
nominated as a Teaching Hero as part of the 2020 student-led Teaching Hero
awards.



The Awards are organised by the National Forum in collaboration with the
Union of Students in Ireland and other students’ unions
nationwide and provide an opportunity for students across the country to
recognise and celebrate outstanding teaching in our higher education
institutions.



This year students were asked to describe why their nominees deserved
recognition as an innovative or inspiring teacher:

*Tell us about your higher education Teaching Hero in 150 words or
less. Don’t just tell us that your Teaching Hero was great... tell us why.
Nominations that only say ‘He/She/They was great!’ don’t give us enough
information about your Teaching Hero. *



The term ‘teacher in higher education’ is inclusive of a range of roles:
lecturing staff, tutors, supervisors, technicians, librarians and any who
are involved in teaching students across the sector.



Over 2500 nominations across 32 higher education institutions were
submitted



Given the challenges faced by both students and all those who teach this
year we feel it is important that all Teaching Hero nominees who wish to
accept their nomination will be duly recognised.



The announcement of the 2020 Teaching Hero awardees will take place on
29 April 2021 as an integral part of the Union of Students in
Ireland’s, Student Achievement Awards Ireland (SAAI), which will be
livestreamed on social media. Post- event, all Teaching Heroes who have
accepted their nomination will receive a Teaching Hero award scroll and
digital badge in recognition of their achievement.



We would like to take this time to offer our congratulations on your
nomination for the Teaching Hero Awards 2020 and on achieving this
distinction for your teaching.
