Conference on Applied Statistics in Agriculture and Nature Resources
May 16-19, 2022 | Logan, Utah
One day in the late 1980s, two professors at the Department of Statistics
at Kansas State University who also had joint appointments in the College
of Agriculture exchanged their observations on the need of a platform to
discuss the statistical problems faced by researchers in agriculture. The
conversation was over a coffee break but the action didn’t end with the
coffee. In 1989, the first Conference of Applied Statistics in Agriculture
was launched by K-State and, for each of the last 30 years, it uniquely
brought 100-120 statisticians and subject-matter scientists from academia,
industry and government to discuss new methodologies and innovative
applications in statistics for the advancement of agricultural research.

Since last year, the conference broaden its scope by integrating natural
resources perspective into the traditional agricultural focus and by
developing an international presence. The 2022 conference is themed with
Machine Learning and coupled with invited sessions covering diverse topics
including Bayesian data analysis, model averaging, statistics as industrial
liaison and deep learning, all with specific focus issues relating to
agriculture and natural resources. One can expect to hear the latest
development and application of statistical methods in the research of the
two disciplines and exchange ideas and knowledge in a global context. The
2022 conference also offers an optional workshop “Regression and
