The *Committee on International Relations in Statistics (CIRS) from the
American Statistical Association (ASA)* and *Statistics Without Borders*
are organizing a bi-monthly Webinar Series
<https://community.amstat.org/committeeoninternationalrelationsinstatistics/events2/webinars>that
will cover different topics in Statistics. The goal is to give the
opportunity to people based on different corners of the world to come
together and learn some introductory material about interesting statistical
topics.

The third edition will be held on September 21st, please, help us advertise
it.

*September 21 2022, 12 PM EDT*

 *An Introduction to Spatial Statistics with Applications to Disease
Mapping *

*Alexandra M. Schmidt, Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and
Occupational Health, McGill University*

This webinar will provide an introduction to the analysis of spatially
structured data. It will introduce Spatial Statistics and focus on the
analysis of data that vary over a discrete set of indices (areal data) as,
for example, the number of registered cases of Covid-19 across the boroughs
of Montreal. We will discuss conditional autoregressive models and how to
perform inference procedure under the Bayesian paradigm.

At the end of the webinar, participants will have learned how to

·        fit conditional auto-regressive (CAR) models;

·        fit areal level data using CARBayes in R;

·        create disease maps.

The event is *free*, but registration is required. Register here
