Summary: In August 2025, the United Nations estimated that there are
approximately 476 million Indigenous Peoples worldwide, representing around
5,000 distinct cultures and speaking the vast majority of the world's 7,000
languages. While official statistics have traditionally improved
livelihoods globally by providing essential, timely data, Indigenous
Peoples have frequently been excluded from these frameworks, rendering them
statistically invisible within their own countries. Although socio-economic
conditions vary, they disproportionately experience poverty and often exist
as minorities in their native lands. While progress has been made,
significant gaps in statistical research remain. This webinar will
highlight recent developments in the field and introduce the work of the
new Special Interest Group (SIG) on Indigenous Statistics, established by
the ISI in February 2026.

O webinar contará com a moderação de Dennis Trewin e a participação das
palestrantes Michele Connolly e Lisa Jackson Pulver, todos renomados
especialistas com ampla experiência na área.
Todos estão convidados! Se possível, peço que compartilhem este convite com
seus colegas e alunos.

Atenciosamente
Verónica
