*Postdoctoral research scientist in biostatistics and computational
genomics at Columbia University*
Description
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral candidates in biostatistics
and computational genomics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Successful candidates will be jointly advised by Drs. Zhonghua Liu
(Assistant Professor in Biostatistics) and Gao Wang (Assistant Professor of
Neurological Sciences in Neurology), and work closely with other
quantitative students and postdocs in our groups on research topics at the
interface of statistics, machine learning, and multi-omics data science.
The candidates will lead statistical method development on scalable causal
mediation analysis and Mendelian randomization methods for multi-omics data
to understand putative causal mechanisms of complex human diseases. A vast
resource of multi-omics data of human brains is available to support
statistical inference of the possible molecular mechanisms leading to the
pathology of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and
multiple sclerosis.

Requirements
Successful candidates should have strong backgrounds in quantitative
research fields, with a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics,
bioinformatics, computer science or other quantitative fields.
Proficiency in statistical computing with R and/or Python
programming languages is required.
Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience working
with large-scale genomics or multi-omics datasets

Our groups
Our groups enjoy a dynamic and stimulating research and educational
environment between Columbia University Vaglos College of Physicians and
Surgeons and Mailman School of Public Health, both located on West 168th
street in Manhattan. We work with other interdisciplinary groups from
across the United States on a diverse range of multi-omics data-driven
topics that motivate the development of novel statistical methodology. The
candidates will thus benefit tremendously from learning and collaborating
with other scientists. More details of our groups can be found at
https://wanggroup.org and sites.google.com/view/drliu/home.

To apply, please email a cover letter, a curriculum vitae and contact
information of up to four references to Zhonghua Liu (
zl2509 em cumc.columbia.edu) and Gao Wang (wang.gao em columbia.edu), under the
subject header "biostatistics postdoc application". The positions are open
until filled and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
