*First Latin American ISI Satellite Meeting on Small Area Estimation *

 A conferência reúne acadêmicos e profissionais com interesse nas técnicas
e aplicações sobre Estimação em Pequenas Áreas. Vários especialistas já
confirmaram presença.

Aproveito para destacar que há possibilidade de concorrer a financiamento
do Banco Mundial para participar desta conferência que é um evento satélite
do ISI - WSC2015.

Destaco que entretanto, a data limite para solicitação de financiamento do
BM é amanhã (16 de janeiro).

Peço que divulguem a colegas que possa estar interessados no tema da
conferência.

 I have some updates I´d like to share with you regarding the organization
of SAE 2015 - *the First Latin American ISI Satellite Meeting on Small Area
Estimation *(August 3-5, 2015, Santiago, Chile).

We hope that this meeting will serve as a bridge between mathematical
statisticians and practitioners working on small area estimation in
academia, private and government agencies. This meeting in Santiago will
give researchers an opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art small area
estimation techniques from the experts in the field.

Please share with as many colleagues and communities you think will be

This year´s grant will cover costs to attend BOTH - the WSC in Brazil and a
satellite meeting like SAE 2015 in Santiago. Please see details of what is

*2. Special Issue on SAE – JRSS series A*
---------------------------------------------------

On the occasion of the The First Latin American ISI Satellite Meeting on
Small Area Estimation, the Joint Editors of the Journal of the Royal
Statistical Society (JRSS) Series A are inviting submissions for a special
issue of JRSS Series A devoted to Small Area Estimation. Please see the
call for papers attached.

This is great news and another good reason to go and promote among
colleagues the submission of good papers to the conference!

Please share the attached Call for Papers with journals, list servers and
colleagues you know could be interested.

*3. Call for Abstracts (Special Topic, Contributed and Poster sessions,
15-20 min)*

We are starting to receive abstract submissions. Three committee members
are helping with the task of reviewing and organizing the incoming
abstracts into “contributed”, “special topic” and “poster” sessions: Ray
Chambers, Gloria Icaza and J.N.K. Rao.

 *4. Invited talks  (40-45min) -  plenary*

We have confirmation for 6 invited talks: Fuller, Ghosh, Lahiri, Rao,
Pfeffermann+Tiller,  Luna+Tzavidis+Zhang. Please see in the conference
poster attached. The Inaugural Talk will be delivered by Graham Kalton.

Share and promote the attached conference POSTER among colleagues!

*5. Invited special sessions and panel (90 min) - plenary*

We have confirmation of 1 panel “SAE in official statistics”, organized by
Ray Chambers and Domingo Morales.

We have confirmation of 1 special session on “SAE Applications”, proposed
by Danny and Partha, to be organized by Junni Zhang (Beijing Univ) and
Carolina Franco (US census).

*6. Registration fees and payment methods*
-------------------------------------------------------

There will be 4 fees for different types of attendees, before or on June
15th of 2015, in US dollars: Regular (U$550), IASS members (U$450),
Developing countries, Chileans, WSC attendees (U$230), and Students ($115).
After June 15th there will be a penalty of U$100 for all categories.

The "student fee" will be available on a limited bases for those who apply
for it. Eligibility criteria and application forms will be available on the
conference website on February 2015.

 Registration will be available using international credit cards, starting
February 2015. Please check the website for more details.
